08/21/09 The health care delivery system in the United States is in need of reform. Health-care costs continue to increase exponentially, and businesses and families are watching more of their budgets be consumed by health expenses.
04/14/09 Over the past several months, Americans' confidence in our financial system has been shaken to the core. The average person might not understand a lot about "credit default swaps" and the Troubled Asset Relief Program, but you don't have to be a Wall Street wizard to understand that over a trillion dollars in taxpayer money has gone to bail out a mess created by corporate incompetence and exacerbated by government fumbling.
02/18/09 During the debate on the economic stimulus proposals in the House, many different standards were used by my colleagues to justify policies and proposals eligible for funding. But there are some standards that are universally accepted as ones worthy of government investment: does it advance our national interests, does it create jobs, and does it serve as a worthwhile investment both in time, energy and resources? To me, our nation's space program meets these criteria. It has throughout its rich history and based on current and future missions it has scheduled, it will in the future.
