Press Release

Washington, DC - Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today issued the following statement in response to the recent Iran agreement:

"This short-term agreement benefits Iran much more than the rest of the world. It fails to stop Iran's enrichment program and ultimately does not prevent Iran from becoming a nuclear power. Iran is already claiming that the agreement guarantees its ability to continue enriching uranium. Iran cannot be trusted, and this agreement only places America and our allies like Israel in greater danger.  Further, this short-term agreement provides Iran with access to billions of dollars which will help to bolster its economy, while Iran makes some token, reversible concessions to its nuclear program. I urge my colleagues in the House and Senate to work on a stronger sanctions proposal immediately to ensure that Iran never succeeds in its quest for a nuclear weapon."
