WASHINGTON, DC– Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today announced that Mary Sullivan, a resident of TX-22 and themother of fallen Houston Firefighter Anne Sullivan, will attend the State of the Union speech this evening as his guest. Anne Sullivan was a probationary firefighter. She had just graduated from the Houston Fire Department (HFD) Academy in April 2013.

As a staunch defender of the unborn, I believe that life begins at conception and every life has a soul. When I first ran for Congress, I made a promise to the folks of the Twenty-Second Congressional District of Texas to do all I can to block taxpayer funds for abortion advocates. A majority of Americans believe that abortions are wrong, yet taxpayer dollars continue to be allocated to groups that promote and perform abortions.

Washington, DC –Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today voted again to immediately authorize construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline, which would bring North American oil from Canada into the US and to our refineries in Texas.  This is the tenth vote the House has taken to approve the pipeline. The Senate is expected to take up a similar bill soon.

Washington, DC –Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) voted today in support of H.R. 30, the Save American Workers (SAW) Act, a bipartisan bill that would repeal Obamacare’s reduction of the definition of full-time employment from 40 to 30 hours. Rep. Olson helped draft this legislation along with Reps. Todd Young (IN-9), Dan Lipinski (IL-3), Mike Kelly (PA-3) and Tim Walberg (MI-7).

The CYAC is a select group of high school students that meet with Congressman Olson to discuss various issues - this session focused on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields.
