Olson Acts to Protect Second Amendment Rights
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today acted to protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners by acting to ensure their conceal carry rights extend beyond state lines. Olson voted for H.R. 38, the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act, which provides concealed carry reciprocity for individuals with valid state-issued permits or for residents of states with a right to constitutional concealed carry. It also ensures that law-abiding citizens do not lose their ability to protect themselves when they travel from state to state. The bill passed the House by a vote of 231-198 and now heads to the Senate for consideration.
“This action is a common-sense solution to the confusing patchwork of conceal carry reciprocity agreements between states,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “Passing this bill will ensure that law-abiding gun owners with state-issued concealed carry permits can exercise their constitutional rights in other states that recognize their permit. I was proud to cosponsor this legislation, and hope the Senate acts quickly.”
