Olson Acts to Protect the Unborn

Press Release

Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today voted to provide legal protections for the unborn with his support for H.R. 36, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This critical legislation prohibits doctors from performing abortions on unborn children beginning at 20 weeks. This pro-life bill also provides protections for the mother for instances of rape, incest or when the life of the mother is at stake. The bill passed the House by a vote of 242-184.

“As a staunch defender of the unborn, I believe life begins at conception and every life has a soul,” Rep. Olson said. “Scientific research has proven that unborn feel pain at 20 weeks old and a majority of Americans support banning late-term abortions. I'm proud to vote to give a voice to the unborn and ban the cruel practice of ending an innocent life that feels pain."
