OLSON ADDRESSES SUGAR LAND ROTARY
Washington, DC– Rep. Pete Olson (R-Sugar Land) spoke to the Sugar Land Rotary yesterday about recent events in Washington and next steps to address the crisis of spending. He took questions about the vote to increase the debt ceiling and enact cuts to federal spending. He also provided an update on efforts in the House to promote energy production and job creation.
"Washington doesn't have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem, but we cannot fix this problem overnight, Olson said. “This agreement was far from perfect, but it is an important step toward fiscal balance. It guarantees a vote in the House and Senate on a balanced budget constitutional amendment and cuts spending by by more than it increases the debt ceiling. This agreement achieves two-thirds of the House Budget Discretionary spending cuts. Each vote we take each is an opportunity to cut more spending and get this nation back on track."
The Sugar Land Rotary legacy of excellence has continued for over two decades through giving back to their community, state, nation and world.
