OLSON ADMONISHES PRESIDENT OBAMA FOR CALLING MEASURE TO PROTECT OUR NATION'S VETERANS "GAME PLAYING"
Washington, DC - Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) tonight issued the following statement admonishing President Obama's veto threat of legislation the House tried to pass to fund operations for the Department of Veterans Affairs, open our nation's parks and museum and give the District of Columbia the ability to spend local funds normally subject to congressional control:
"President Obama and Senate Democrats shut down the government by refusing to extend the same Obamacare delay to individuals that they gave to big businesses. House Republicans also asked Senate Democrats and the President to live by the same Obamacare rules they have placed on every American. They refuse.
"Tonight, House Republicans tried to pass legislation to ensure the already overwhelming backlog of veterans claims does not grow larger, open our national parks and allow the District of Columbia to continue operating while we work to resolve our differences. Sadly, President Obama called this gesture "playing games" and House Democrats opposed this plan. It's shameful to exploit our veterans for political gain and the American people will see through it."
