Olson AED Bill Under Consideration in Committee Hearing

December 8, 2015
Press Release

Congressman Pete Olson (TX-22) today announced the Health Subcommittee will conduct a hearing on several Energy and Commerce Committee bills including his bill, H.R. 4152, the Cardiac Arrest Survival Act. This legislation would provide Good Samaritan immunity from civil liability related to the use of automated external defibrillator devices (AEDs). If enacted, this bill will help increase the survival rate from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) by eliminating the threat of frivolous lawsuits through development of a nationally uniform baseline of protection for persons who use AEDs while attempting to save a life during a medical emergency.

The Subcommittee on Health will hold a hearing on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 “Examining Legislation to Improve Health Care and Treatment.” The subcommittee will continue its efforts to advance critical legislation that addresses shortcomings in current law and reauthorize an important nurse training program.
