This program gives distinguished veterans of the 22nd Congressional District the opportunity to be formally recognized for either their wartime sacrifices or peacetime community involvement. This program is nomination-based, designed to recognize veterans within the 22nd District of Texas to honor their contributions and sacrifice, as well as preserve their stories for future generations of America. The CVC, in conjunction with the Veteran’s History Project is sponsored by the Library of Congress and was created to honor distinguished veterans and preserve their stories for future generations of Americans.
“As a former Navy pilot, the Congressional Veteran Commendation holds a special meaning for me.” Rep. Pete Olson said. “This is an important opportunity to express our gratitude for the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who fought for our freedom. Many veterans of TX-22 have courageously stepped forward to put our country, our freedom, and others before themselves. I encourage all residents to nominate a family member or friend who exemplifies heroism or sacrifice so that our community can say thank you.”
To be considered for the nomination, a nominee must reside in the 22nd Congressional District of Texas. The deadline to nominate a veteran for the 2016 CVC is Monday, October 3, 2016. To nominate a veteran and/or for more information please visit Rep. Olson’s website.
