Olson Announces Katy Student Naval Academy Appointment
Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today announced that Luke Moffett of Katy, TX has received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy for the fall of 2016. Moffett is a freshman at Liberty University and a 2015 graduate of Seven Lakes High School in Katy, TX. He was a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Military Club, and Texas Boys State. He was 3-year Varsity Pole-Vaulter and a member of Olson’s Congressional Youth Advisory Council. Olson will present Moffett with a proclamation congratulating him on his appointment and remind him of the importance of serving as an officer in the United States Armed Forces. Moffett is the third TX-22 student to receive an academy appointment this year.

"His accomplishment brings enormous pride to our community. It's an honor to recognize him for his commitment to protect and defend our nation through service in one of our military academies. As a former Navy pilot, I'm thrilled to congratulate Luke on his appointment. I'm confident he will honorably serve our nation with pride and distinction."
Military academy appointees are evaluated for a variety of qualifications including: moral character, strong academic record, demonstrated leadership potential, physical fitness, and commitment to serve a five-year military term in the United States Armed Forces upon graduation.
