Olson Announces Manvel Student Air Force Academy Appointment
Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today announced that Marshall Foster of Manvel, TX has received an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy for the fall of 2016. Foster is a senior at Glenda Dawson High School and a TX-22 resident. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Texas Boys State, an Eagle Scout, athlete and a strong community leader. Foster is also a member of Olsonâ€™s Congressional Youth Advisory Committee. Olson will present Foster with a proclamation congratulating him on his appointment and remind him of the importance of serving as an officer in the United States Armed Forces. Foster is the second TX-22 student to receive an academy appointment this year.

"His accomplishment brings enormous pride to our community. It's an honor to recognize Marshall for his commitment to protect and defend our nation through service in one of our military academies. As a former Navy pilot, I'm thrilled to congratulate Marshall on his appointment. I'm confident he will honorably serve our nation with pride and distinction."
Military academy appointees are evaluated for a variety of qualifications including: moral character, strong academic record, demonstrated leadership potential, physical fitness, and commitment to serve a five-year military term in the United States Armed Forces upon graduation.
