Olson Announces Missouri City Student West Point Academy Appointment

Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today announced that Tim Chou Jr. of Missouri City, TX has received an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point for the fall of 2016. Chou is a freshman at Baylor University, a graduate of Hightower High School and a TX-22 resident. He is currently a Cadet Private in the Army ROTC and a member of the Army ROTC Color Guard. Tim was named to the Baylor University’s Academic Dean’s List for the fall semester. He also has a passion for participating and competing in 5K races. Olson will present Chou with a proclamation congratulating him on his appointment and remind him of the importance of serving as an officer in the United States Armed Forces. Chou is the fifth TX-22 student to receive an academy appointment this year.

"Tim Chou’s appointment to West Point is a reflection of his academic excellence and outstanding community service," Rep. Pete Olson said. "His accomplishment brings enormous pride to our community. It's an honor to recognize Tim for his commitment to protect and defend our nation through service in one of our military academies. As a former Navy pilot, I'm thrilled to congratulate Tim on his appointment.  I'm confident he will honorably serve our nation with pride and distinction."

Military academy appointees are evaluated for a variety of qualifications including: moral character, strong academic record, demonstrated leadership potential, physical fitness, and commitment to serve a five-year military term in the United States Armed Forces upon graduation.
