Olson Announces Sugar Land Student Naval Academy Appointment
Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today announced that Triona Swanson of Sugar Land, TX has received an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy for the fall of 2016. Swanson is a senior at St. Agnes College Preparatory Academy. She is an avid runner; Captain of her Varsity Cross Country Team and has competed in several triathlons. Swanson also swims on local club teams and has earned the Girl Scout Silver and Bronze Awards. She has many volunteer hours at her church and the local Boys & Girls Club. Olson will present Swanson with a proclamation congratulating her on her appointment and remind her of the importance of serving as an officer in the United States Armed Forces. Swanson is the fourth TX-22 student to receive an academy appointment this year.

"Her accomplishment brings enormous pride to our community. It's an honor to recognize Triona for her commitment to protect and defend our nation through service in one of our military academies. As a former Navy pilot, I'm thrilled to congratulate her on this appointment. I'm confident she will honorably serve our nation with pride and distinction."
Military academy appointees are evaluated for a variety of qualifications including: moral character, strong academic record, demonstrated leadership potential, physical fitness, and commitment to serve a five-year military term in the United States Armed Forces upon graduation.
