Olson Applauds Action to Hold Sponsors of Terrorism Accountable
Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today voted to remove immunity from foreign governments when a terrorist attack kills Americans on American soil.” Olson voted for S.2040, the Justice against Sponsors of Terrorism Act, which would prevent accused foreign sponsors of terrorism from invoking sovereign immunity in cases involving terrorist acts occurring in the United States. The bill was passed by unanimous consent in the Senate and also passed the House with unanimous support today.
“As we prepare to honor the 15th anniversary of the 3,000 Americans we lost in the largest terrorist attack on US soil, we must provide justice for the families who lost loved ones on 9/11,” Rep. Olson said. “Every country, person or organization that supports terrorist organizations that attack us on our homeland should be held accountable.”
