Olson Applauds Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Visit to Congress
Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today issued the following statement in support of House Speaker John Boehner's invitation for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address a joint session of Congress:
"President Obama continues to damage America's strong relationship with our close friend and strategic ally Israel. The White House is upset that Speaker Boehner is violating “protocol” by inviting Prime Minister Netanyahu and bypassing the White House. However, Speaker Boehner doesn’t need permission – he is making the correct decision and I fully support him.
"The president has threatened to veto sanctions on Iran, but Congress will still act. The threat from Iran continues to grow and Israel needs America to stand up and support them in their time of need. Having been to Israel and seen firsthand the challenges our friends face, I refuse to stand idly by while their very existence is threatened. If the Obama administration won’t support Israel, I will do all I can to ensure that the United States Congress will."
