Olson Applauds Kids for Honoring Local Police
Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) yesterday applauded two local Sugar Land kids who raised money to show their support for law enforcement in the wake of the recent shooting of Houston Deputy Sheriff Darren Goforth. Sawyer and Simon Bloesch, 9 and 12, recently held a lemonade stand to raise money as a show of support for local law enforcement. Monday, October 5th, the Bloesch children presented the Sugar Land Police Department with $250 in proceeds from their recent lemonade stand.
“Our law enforcement officers run into danger on a daily basis to protect our communities and keep our families safe,†Rep. Pete Olson said. “In talking with local police officers, I have gotten a strong sense they feel abandoned at times by the very people they pledge to protect and serve. After the tragic shooting of Deputy Goforth, it’s impressive to see young children stepping up to say thank you and we love you. Sawyer and Simon provided a needed gesture of thanks with their lemonade stand and I was proud to join them in presenting their proceeds to the Sugar Land Police Department. Our children are our future and we are in good hands with these kids. And our communities are safer thanks to the men and women of the Sugar Land Police Department and all who wear the blue uniform across America.â€
