Olson Applauds Senate Passage of Pearland Officer Postal Bill

March 13, 2018
Press Release

Washington, DC - Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today applauded his Senate colleagues for joining him to honor fallen Pearland police officer Endy Nddiobong Ekpanya by naming a Post Office in his honor. Officer Ekpanya was killed by a drunk driver on June 16, 2016, while responding to a non-emergency call. He was the first officer in Pearland to die in the line of duty in over 40 years. The bill passed the Senate by voice vote, was signed by House Speaker Ryan and now heads to the president for signature.

“Police officers, like Endy Ekpanya, risk their lives in the line of duty each and every day to keep our families and communities safe,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “Endy selflessly served our Pearland community and naming this Post Office after him is a small gesture to thank him for his dedication. Now, when Pearland residents visit the Endy Nddiobong Ekpanya Post Office Building, they will be reminded of his courage, service and sacrifice. I thank Senators Cruz and Cornyn for supporting this bill in the Senate and look forward to President Trump’s signature."

H.R. 294, the Endy Nddiobong Ekpanya Post Office Building Act will designate the U. S. Post Office located at 2700 Cullen Boulevard in Pearland, Texas, the “Endy Nddiobong Ekpanya Post Office Building.”
