Olson Awards Former Stafford Police Officer Ann Carrizales with Congressional Badge of Bravery
Congressman Pete Olson (TX-22) today was joined by Stafford Mayor Leonard Scarcella to award former Stafford Police Officer and Marine Ann Carrizales with the Congressional Badge of Bravery. On October 26, 2013, Ann was shot in the face, neck and chest while in the line of duty. Despite her injuries, Officer Carrizales chased the shooters through two counties and managed the scene. The shooter and his two accomplices were all caught and taken into custody.
“Ann is a wife, mother and former Marine. Those thugs clearly messed with the wrong woman,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “With wounds to her face, neck and chest, Ann’s first reaction was to jump in her cruiser and chase the suspects. She stayed on her radio throughout the chase to keep her fellow officers aware of her location and the situation. Ann’s protective instincts came out; nobody was going to take her away from her husband and children. As a police officer, Ann protected and served the Stafford community with distinction. I’m honored to present her with Congressional Badge of Bravery. Thank you, Ann, for your heroism. Semper fi.”
