Press Release

Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) congratulated the top five finishers in the annual Congressional Art Competition. This year’s first place winner is Anton Zhou from Clements High School. His piece will be on display in the U.S. Capitol for a year. In addition to Anton’s piece, the 2nd through 5th place winners will have their artwork displayed throughout Congressman Olson’s district and Washington offices.

“Congratulations to Anton Zhou and all of the talented students who contributed their art work for this competition," Olson said. "Their talent is a reflection of their hard work and artistic vision. Thousands of people who visit the Capitol every year have the opportunity to view artwork from creative young students from all across America. I'm thrilled that Anton's artwork, "Taste of Texas," will represent our district in the Capitol. I congratulate Julian, Catherine, Ty, Madison, Stacy and all of the students who participated in this year’s competition.”

The Congressional Art Competition began in 1982 to provide an opportunity for Members of Congress to encourage and recognize the artistic talents of their young constituents. The overall winner from each district will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol.
