Olson Dismisses Obama Budget

February 9, 2016
Press Release

Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) today issued the following statement in response to President Obama’s final budget proposal:

“The president has proposed a 30% tax on US oil production at a time when the oil industry is struggling to hang on through a damaging decline. Not only is he attacking one of the cornerstones of Houston’s economy, he’s again pitting one group of Americans against another in his attempt to fundamentally reshape what America stands for. Further, the Obama Administration is reducing border security measures while the number of Central American migrants crossing the Texas border is again on the rise. This liberal wish list is the wrong approach. While ISIS is ramping up recruiting efforts, this president is ramping up climate change spending, dismissing the real and present threats we face. This budget, like every other budget the president has proposed, fails to even attempt to balance our federal budget. It’s a non-starter. House Republicans are working to develop a budget that is fiscally responsible and addresses the threats we face in our economy and national security.”
