OLSON HEARS FROM FORT BEND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL
Congressman Pete Olson (TX-22) recently met with the membership of the Greater Fort Bend Economic Development Council to discuss recent legislative issues that impact the local community. He discussed energy, economic and flood control issues that affect the region as well as answered questions from council members and attendees, including local elected officials, Fort Bend business leaders and community members.
Rep. Olson said, "It’s so important to remain focused on the economic stability and prosperity of our region. The Greater Fort Bend EDC does that and is a key instrument in keeping our community and our local economy strong. This meeting made it clear that the members are very concerned about the impact of this Administration’s excessive regulations on businesses. I also provided an update on what the House Energy and Commerce Committee is doing to scale back overregulation that destroys jobs and roadblocks small business growth.
“We also touched on flood insurance premiums that affect Fort Bend homeowners and my work to delay any rate increases while reforming the costly federal flood insurance program. I will continue to work to protect the citizens I represent from an over-intrusive government and help small businesses do what they do best- grow the economy. I thank the Greater Fort Bend EDC for graciously hosting me at this event,â€Rep. Olson concluded.
