OLSON JOINS EFFORT TO KEEP THE IRS OFF YOUR HEALTHCARE
Washington, DC– Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today announced support for legislation that would prohibit the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) from implementing or enforcing any provisions of the president’s health care law. Olson has cosponsored H.R. 1990, the Keep the IRS Off Your Health Care Act of 2013.
"In light of the news that the IRS may have illegally targeted conservative organizations applying for tax-exempt status, those running the IRS cannot be trusted to follow the rule of law and should not be responsible for enforcing any part of Obamacare," Olson said. "Now we learn that the IRS commissioner responsible for tax-exempt organizations between 2009 and 2012, Sarah Hall Ingram, is now the director of the IRS’ office in charge of implementing Obamacare. The commissioner in charge of the office that has broken the public's trust should not be placed in charge of implementing a costly and massive mandate forced on the American people.
"The IRS has a huge credibility gap with Congress and the American public. That's why I support this legislation, which would prohibit the IRS from implementing any provisions in Obamacare. We will continue to investigate and bring the truth to the American people."
