OLSON OPPOSES OMNIBUS SPENDING BILL
Washington, DC – Congressman Pete Olson (R-TX) tonight voted against the end-of-year appropriations bill that was passed on the House floor. The $1.1 trillion discretionary spending measure contains full spending bills for 11 of the 12 annual appropriations measures but only funds the Homeland Security Department via Continuing Resolution through late February.
"President Obama blatantly disregarded our Constitution when he issued an Executive Order that ignores current federal law by providing a path to legal status for up to five million undocumented immigrants," Rep. Pete Olson said. "This action showed dangerous disregard for the rule of law in America and must be stopped. While I appreciate the difficult situation the president has put Congress in, I cannot in good conscience support a bill that does not immediately stop this illegal amnesty effort."
