Olson: Pearland Student Receives US Air Force Academy Appointment
SUGAR LAND, TX– Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today announced that Caleb Kelley of Pearland, TX has received an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy for the fall of 2018. Kelley is a senior at Robert Turner College and Career High School and a TX-22 resident. He is a member of both the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. He is an Eagle Scout and has also received the Mayor of Pearland Citizenship Award. Olson will present Kelley with a proclamation congratulating him on his appointment. Kelley is the sixth TX-22 student to receive an academy appointment this year.
"Caleb’s appointment to U.S. Air Force Academy is a reflection of his academic excellence and outstanding community service," Rep. Pete Olson said. "His accomplishment brings enormous pride to our Pearland community. It's an honor to recognize this young man for his commitment to protect and defend our nation through service in one of our military academies. As a former Navy pilot, I'm thrilled to congratulate Caleb on his appointment. I'm confident he will honorably serve our nation with pride and distinction."
Military academy appointees are evaluated for a variety of qualifications including: moral character, strong academic record, demonstrated leadership potential, physical fitness, and commitment to serve a five-year military term in the United States Armed Forces upon graduation.
