Olson Presents Bronze Star Medal to Pearland Hero
Washington, DC - Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) recently presented Pearland constituent Michael Riggs a Bronze Star Medal. Michael received the Bronze Star Medal from the Air Force for his actions in Vietnam during the evacuation of Saigon in April 1975. He distinguished himself as a Customs and Anti-hijack Inspector, showing exemplary leadership, personal courage and devotion while exposed to extreme danger during hostile rocket attacks and small arms fire. Riggs currently lives in Pearland, TX and works as an Emergency Management Coordinator for METRO. Olson worked with the Department of Defense to secure the medal on behalf of Riggs.
“Michael Riggs is a local hero whose recognition is long overdue,” Rep. Pete Olson said. “He is one of the many brave men and women who have risked their lives on behalf of our liberty. I cannot begin to express my gratitude for his service. It was an honor to present this medal on behalf of a grateful nation. Pearland is lucky to have Riggs as part of our community. We are proud and we thank him.”
