Olson Rejects White Nationalism And White Supremacy
WASHINGTON, DC – Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives voted 424-1 on a resolution rejecting white nationalism and white supremacy following recent comments by Rep. Steve King (IA-4):
“Hatred, intolerance and racism have no place in our community, our country or in the U.S. House of Representatives. Our Founding Fathers sought to create an America that is welcoming and accepting, where citizens are entitled to equal rights, are treated fairly with the same respect and are subjected to the same laws regardless of race or religion. That is the country I proudly defended as a Navy pilot and that is the country I know we still are. Together we have the power to lift each other up, not tear each other down because of our differences.”
Olson also supported the decision by Republican Leadership to remove Rep. Steve King from his committee assignments.
