Olson Seeks High School Students for Youth Advisory Council
Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) calls on all high school juniors and seniors in the 22nd District of Texas to apply to participate in the Congressional Youth Advisory Council (CYAC). Through CYAC, Olson gains insight from students across TX-22 and encourages them to work hard and accomplish their academic goals.
“These high school students are our future leaders,†Rep. Olson said. “This Youth Advisory Council allows students to better understand the inner workings of government and gain exposure to local industry leaders. It also encourages community participation at an early age. I look forward to working with and learning from these bright students.â€
The Council meets three times within the school year and includes a roundtable discussion on current events, as well as learning the pivotal role of lawmakers, experts and citizens in a democracy. These high-achieving students will be considered Ambassadors for Congressman Olson and will be asked to provide feedback on legislation working its way through Congress. Completed applications are due to the Sugar Land or Pearland office by May 27th. For applications and more information, please visit Olson’s website: http://1.usa.gov/1rbbS4A
