Olson Slams Obama Keystone Rejection

November 6, 2015
Press Release

Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) today issued the following statement of admonishment upon learning President Obama has formally rejected plans to build the Keystone XL pipeline from the US into Canada:

“Seven years into his presidency, when it will no longer cost political capital, President Obama finally delivered a victory to the left-wing activists who have long opposed Keystone XL. Today, the president said yes to extremism and no to good paying jobs and an energy source from a trusted friend – Canada. With this rejection, President Obama is saying yes to China and no to American jobs. The southern portion of Keystone is already in place and delivering energy safely to Texas from other parts of the country. America needs a leader who will not wait seven years to kowtow to extremists. I am disappointed, but not surprised by today’s announcement.”
