Olson Slams President Obama Veto of National Defense Authorization Act

October 22, 2015
Press Release

Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) former Navy pilot, today issued the following statement after President Obama vetoed H.R. 1735, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):

“Shameful. It is just plain shameful that our Commander-in-Chief is playing politics with a bill that provides critical support for our brave military and their families. Just one week ago, President Obama asked more American military personnel to remain deployed in Afghanistan, yet today he has turned his back on these same heroes with this veto. This defense bill provides crucial security, equipment and benefits to our troops. With the stroke of his veto pen, President Obama put America’s national security at risk in order to advance his own domestic agenda. That’s not how a Commander-in-Chief should act. I look forward to voting to override his reckless veto.”
