Olson Statement On Obama WOTUS Disapproval Veto
Rep. Pete Olson (TX-22) today issued the following statement in response to President Obama's veto of Congress’ resolution of disapproval of his controversial Waters of the US (WOTUS) regulation:
“Unelected and working behind closed doors, federal agency bureaucrats are issuing overreaching regulations that ignore the will of Congress and the American people. Recently, the EPA issued a Waters of the United States (WOTUS) proposal in an effort to extend federal control over traditionally off-limits waters like ditches. It increases federal power to dictate land and water-use decisions and farming practices. This overreaching rule will wreak havoc on Texas farms, businesses and landowners.
“Recently Congress passed a resolution of disapproval that President Obama has vetoed. His refusal to listen to the will of Congress and the American people is disheartening, but hopefully, he will not have the last say in this matter. Last fall, a federal court blocked this rule nationwide in order to review its legality. I am hopeful they will reject this federal overreach and restore sanity to our nation. I will continue every effort to reject President Obama's EPA power grab.â€
