Olson Votes to Lift Ban on Crude Oil Exports
Rep. Pete Olson (R-TX) today issued the following statement after the House Energy and Power Subcommittee voted to approve H.R. 702, a bill to lift the ban on crude oil exports:
“Today’s committee vote was an important step forward for American energy and global energy security. By voting to lift an antiquated, 40-year-old ban on exports of domestic crude oil, we are sending a strong message to energy deficient countries being held hostage that help is on the way. Domestically, a vote to lift the ban will spur economic growth by boosting American energy production and creating jobs. Studies have also indicated that prices may go down for American energy consumers. Lifting this ban is a win for our economy, consumers and our global partners who need affordable energy. It’s time to lift the ban and bring a comprehensive energy policy to the United States.â€
Olson is the Vice Chairman of the Energy and Power Subcommittee.
