WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Representatives David E. Price (D-NC) and Pete Olson (R-TX)—co-chairs of the Congressional Moldova Caucus—issued the statement below following the creation of a new governing coalition in Moldova as a result of the February 24, 2019, parliamentary elections:
“We are encouraged by the progress made in Moldova towards a peaceful transition of power through political dialogue and democratic processes after the parliamentary elections on February 24, 2019. We urge all Moldovan elected leaders to continue using dialogue as a tool to resolve remaining political and governing challenges and work together to ensure a prosperous and democratic future for the people of Moldova.
Moving forward, we stand ready to support Moldova’s efforts to combat corruption, strengthen civil society, exercise self-determination, and pursue Euro-Atlantic integration. As strong supporters of Moldova and its people, we look forward to working with the new governing coalition to support Moldova’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, as well as to strengthen U.S.-Moldova relations.”
